AUSTIN, Texas — As Charlie Faye & the Fayettes ready the release of their second album, The Whole Shebang, due out February 8, 2019 through Burnside Distribution, much is happening: key songwriter Faye has inked a deal with Rough Trade Publishing, a release show is set for the fabled Continental Club, and a new single has premiered via Parade magazine (with a digital reach of more than 30 million).

Of her signing with Rough Trade, the home of artists varied from Stephen Merritt to Sondre Lerche, Faye says, “I’m so excited to be working with [them]. They’re a badass company and a great group of people and I couldn't be happier to have them on our team. I know they'll be working to get us more opportunities in sync and that's something that's really exciting to me.”

Eric Church Thrills During Sold-Out Opening Weekend of "Double Down Tour"

OMAHA, Neb. – It was five songs in to his set before Eric Church addressed the sold-out crowd at the CHI Health Center in snowy Omaha, Nebraska on Friday night, the first of two shows kicking off the Double Down Tour, proclaiming “it’s gonna be a journey, so buckle up... We’re gonna have a lot of fun tonight.” He stood beneath a 137,000-pound lighting rig that ran from his stage all the way to the back row of the arena on the 10-bus and 18-truck tour, clearly enjoying his return to the stage after a 16-month hiatus from touring to write, record and release Desperate Man.

Church took more than 30,000 total fans on unique journeys sans opening act each night, covering a range of songs off all six of his studio albums – from his debut single “How ‘Bout You” to his many No. 1 hits including “Drink In My Hand,” “Springsteen” and “Record Year,” as well as an extensive offering of tracks off his current album, Desperate Man. Across both shows, Church owned the stage for more than seven hours to play nearly 70 songs – only 13 of which appeared on both set lists, upholding his promise to make every show completely its own.

He paused often throughout the marathon sets to reflect on the Omaha crowd’s enthusiasm – retrieving fans’ American flags to passionately sling around his neck for the remainder of each show and even taking song requests from the audience – visibly awed by the energy of the Church Choir filling the arena from top to bottom and setting a promising standard for the 18 cities to follow.

“A mix of virtuoso musicianship and original songwriting that plays as well in a hipster coffeehouse as it does in a small town concert hall.”
–Larry Groce, Mountain Stage

Charleston, WV: Deftly navigating classic Country blues, hard-driving Western swing, toe-tapping Rockabilly, and rueful Appalachia with equal aplomb, acoustic honky-tonk trio Blue Yonder have announced a “Winter Windswept” tour with shows in Asheville, Knoxville, Nashville, Johnson City, Maryville and Charleston. As a special guest at their Isis Music Hall show in Asheville, they'll be joined by drummer Tony Creasman known for his work with Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss, Waylon Jennings, and Emmylou Harris.

Led by singer/lyricist John Lilly, renown for starring in the Hank Williams production, The Lost Show, which has run annually in Charleston for the past 18 years, Blue Yonder’s original material and kinetic musicianship flashes echoes of Williams, Jimmie Rodgers, Bob Willis, Asleep At The Wheel and early 70s Grateful Dead. Rounding out the core trio are two-time national flat-picking champion Robert Shafer and upright bassist Will Carter, who has played with numerous bluegrass and old-time bands, and is the founder of the “Clifftop” festival, an annual global summit of old-time musicians in West Virginia.
