Nashville, TN – The Dark & The Light, the new album from soulful independent troubadour Shawn James, is set for release on March 22 on Parts + Labor Records. Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, James’ music is inspired by blues, gospel, rock, R&B and folk. His lyrics are informed by life experiences that include forcibly becoming part of the Pentecostal church in his youth and the loss of a loved one, but hope and love are always present throughout.

James’ fans connect to his genuine sentiment and the way he opens himself up by allowing himself to be vulnerable through his art. His substantive songs encourage exploration as well as enjoyment both sonically and lyrically, but what stands out right away is his extraordinary voice. A gifted vocalist who studied opera and classical, he was a standout while singing in gospel choirs as a kid. With his voice, James possesses a remarkable instrument that is equally powerful and commanding as it is soulful and nuanced.

Amelia White Navigates Personal and Political Loss on 'Rhythm of the Rain'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — If there were an East Nashville Music Hall of Fame, Amelia White would already be in it. The now-famous scene was in its formative days when White arrived from Boston in the early 2000s and became a fixture at the Family Wash. She’s been a leading light in America’s most musical zip code ever since, even as she’s developed a reputation in the rest of the U.S. and Europe as a first-rate songwriter. She helped define and refine the core folk-rock sound of Americana, yet her band’s energetic pulse never outshines her carefully wrought lyrics. She’s a poet who’s been compared to more famous songwriters for years; now, it would be more appropriate to use her as a benchmark.

White’s seventh album, Rhythm of the Rain, due out January 25, 2019, is a volume of ruminations and short stories written largely during a tour in the U.K. in 2016. There, at a distance and with a sense of helplessness, she watched America’s political system and her values attacked from within. Then the project was recorded by East Nashville sonic maestro Dave Coleman (The Coal Men) in an emotionally wrenching four days between White losing her mother and marrying her partner. Roots music is a journal of love and loss, and Rhythm of the Rain couldn’t be a more potent dispatch.

The video was directed by Gaia Alari, who said, "I used a fairytale-like, surreal imagery and symbols such as the wolf and the lamb, to highlight the way a kid sees good and evil and to hint that no matter how hard a wolf may try to swallow him/her up, a kid will always remain a lamb, innocent and in need for protection and love. Today’s society will be always held accountable for how future generations will become tomorrow."

Nashville, TN – Genre-melding quintet The Way Down Wanderers have announced the February 22nd release of their independent sophomore album illusions. Hailing from Peoria, IL, the group craft stories inspired by the heartland with a unique blend of sounds stemming from their varied musical backgrounds. Produced by Grammy winner David Schiffman (HAIM, Johnny Cash, Rage Against The Machine), this is not your average roots/rock record. Though it is built on a foundation of Americana and bluegrass, illusionsfeatures The Way Down Wanderers’ signature multi-part harmonies injected with unexpected elements of pop, reggae, classical and jazz.

The Way Down Wanderers began when former rock drummer Austin Krause-Thompson met classically trained folk instrumentalist/vocalist Collin Krause at the ages of 19 and 15 respectively (the two recently became brothers-in-law). The two lead singers/songwriters were later joined by jazz percussionist John Merikoski, classical bassist John Williams and banjo player Travis Kowalsky. The band’s self-titled 2016 debut captured the attention of critics and peers alike with their boundary-blurring style and electrifying live performances.

NASHVILLE TN -- Thursday November 29 -- British rising star Yola’s debut solo album,
Walk Through Fire, produced by The Black Keys’ eight-time Grammy Award winner Dan Auerbach, will be released on February 22, 2019 on Easy Eye Sound. Yola has blazed her own trail with an unshakable passion for the soul and country music she loves.

Walk Through Fire is a contemporary twist on a traditional sonic tapestry of orchestral strings, fiddle, steel and shimmering tremolo guitars, it provides the perfect soundtrack to Yola’s arresting vocals, which first came to the attention of Auerbach after a friend sent him a video of Yola performing in Nashville.

Dan Auerbach stated, “The moment I met Yola I was impressed. Her spirit fills the room, just like her voice...she has the ability to sing in a full roar or barely a whisper and that is a true gift. She made everyone in the studio an instant believer.”

Little Person Share "I'm Happy To Be With You"

11/27/2018

The story of NYC-based indie-rock band Little Person can be broken down succinctly around the number two. The project of twin brothers and multi-instrumentalists Max and Nicky Weinbach, Little Person continues to draw inspiration from legendary songwriting talents like Burt Bacharach (alliteration!) following a change of coasts from the Bay Area to the Big Apple.

Both Weinbach brothers started their careers in musical theater, still putting on a throwback-style variety show from time to time, but it was their mutual love of classic 1960’s pop records that led them down their current path. Forming in 2013, Little Person released an acclaimed, self-titled EP and contemplated their next move leading to, well, a move! Now firmly planted in New York, the band is following up on their I Feel Fine EP with a new standalone single, the tender ballad, "I'm Happy to Be With You."
